The Wisdom I Would Impart to My Younger Self
Embarking on this blog, I found myself contemplating various paths to take. Should I delve into the highs and lows of my experiences? Discuss the setbacks and successes? Or share what I've learned along the way?
So here I am, offering a glimpse into the rollercoaster of life events and sharing the wisdom I would impart to a younger, fiercely driven, and occasionally overzealous Surbhi.
Recognize the power of choice. Every day, we choose between success and failure. Our decisions, big or small, shape our lives.
Embrace failure as an opportunity. Sometimes, things don't work out, and that's okay. Failure can be our greatest teacher, but not every failure leads to growth. Dust yourself off and move on when you need to.
Kick off your career in sales or have at least 1 stint in sales. It's tough, no doubt, but the skills you'll gain are worth it. Imagine building resilience, quick thinking, persuasion, and people skills early on. Not many can boast about that!
People don't give a fuck, and you shouldn't, either. It's easy to think everyone's judging your every move, but guess what? They're usually too busy dealing with their own stuff. Embrace this truth, and you'll find the freedom to be yourself and follow your own path.
Own your journey. Be a learner and a leader, and embrace the mindset that this is your show. Adopting that attitude can take you places you've never even dreamed of.
There is no perfect job, just perfect effort. Jobs are what you make of them. Raise your hand, go the extra mile, and give it your all. Hard work and long hours can pay off in spades. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Know when to bend and break the rules. Rules are there to keep you safe, but sometimes, taking risks can lead to the greatest rewards. Learn to recognize the difference.
Embrace tough criticism. When the right people offer you feedback, take it as a gift. It means they care enough to help you grow.
Be the person everyone loves working with. Stick to deadlines and own your tasks. Become the teammate that everyone dreams of having.
Focus on your strengths. It's natural to want to improve your weaknesses, but it's more important to hone your strengths. That's where your true potential lies.
Pick the right battles. Not everything is worth fighting for. Learn to distinguish between issues that genuinely matter and those that don't.
Teamwork makes the dream work. Remember that you can't do it all alone. Embrace collaboration and learn to work well with others.
Prioritize happiness. Make time for the things and people you love. It's essential to balance work and life to truly enjoy the journey.
Be bold in pursuing your goals. Don't hesitate to ask for what you want, even against the odds. Ambition and persistence leave a lasting impact.
Surround yourself with excellence. People can propel you forward or hold you back, so strive for excellence and steer clear of mediocrity.
Finally, always remember that nobody has everything figured out all the time. You'll stumble, triumph, and learn along the way, and these experiences will shape the story you'll cherish. The real secret to success is unwavering, tenacious consistency. It might not be glamorous on most days, but the key ingredient makes all the difference. Embrace the journey, and never stop growing!
